I’m working on a non-profit site that has one section (using a custom post type) they would like to charge users. I’ve got it set up as a basic membership, but I would like two options:
    1. Require payment (how to make this happen?) for access.
    2. Allow people to sign up with invite codes that are not required to pay.

I see there are a number of features I could pay for, but wasn’t sure where to start. They don’t sell any other products directly on the site right now, but they do accept donations.

    Thanks!

It kind of depends on how you want the user flow to go. The plugin has to possible extensions – PayPal and WooCommerce.

The PayPal extension works best if you have a single type of user (i.e. users are either registered and paid, or they are not) and is pretty simple to set up. The WooCommerce extension is designed to work with the “Memberships” features in WP-Members for situations where you might have different memberships that have different access/content.

There is an invite codes extension that can be used to allow users to register with an invitation code, but if you go the WooCommerce route, there are other possibilities as WooCommerce has coupon codes built in.
