Version 8 is not good

  • The reason many users used this plugin is because of the robust feature set. The new version has removed 75% or more of those features and the plugin has been severely downgraded. Time to start looking for a new security plugin, unfortunately. Very short-sighted decision by the iThemes team on this one. “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”..

    Hi!

    We removed outdated security features that are no longer relevant in 2021 from iThemes Security & iThemes Security Pro.

    However, in iThemes Security 8.0, we added new security features that were previously only available in the Pro version of the plugin. iThemes Security is stronger than ever!

    I agree. New design and UI is extremely confusing. Took me a while to find some features that are under mini button Advanced. I agree many features disappeared and If they were useless I understand. However simplicity of this plugin is gone and for me now is time to rethink security plugin. Because when you use something on 70+ websites you need to love it. I will stick with iThemes till 8.1 if something changes but honest feedback – 8.0 UI and Dashboard is terrible ??

    I have replaced iThemes Security with Wordfence on five of the most important sites I maintain. iThemes Security version 8.0 is not easy to understand and there is no simple guide to help. The layout of the Features, User Groups etc seems almost random and jumping from one page to another is confusing.
    Also, the automatic update didn’t provide all the available screens. I found out about this when I watched a YouTube video which started showing pages of iThemes Security which I had not seen before. I removed the plugin and downloaded it afresh. Sure enough, I could then see the other pages.
    I cannot agree with Mr Moore’s assertion at the top of the website page that v.8.0 is “the most

      user-friendly, easy to configure

    , best-looking WordPress security plugin to secure and protect your WordPress website!”
