• I searched the many topics on this plugin, but could not find anything exactly matching my problem.

I have just done a new install of Next Gen and things seem to be working fine, except thumbnails are not generating.

I have confirmed that the gallery folder is set to 777, and when I create a new gallery, a new folder is generated which is also set to 777, and there is a thumbnail folder, also set to 777, but nothing is created in the thumbnail folder. The only possible cause I have found is that my wp-content/uploads/ folder has my custom group and owner (my user name) and the gallery folder generated by the plugin has a “www-data” owner. But since all of these are set to 777,

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Hereintokyo

I’ve just installed NExtGen after upgrading to WP 2.9.2 and experienced the same problem. I then selected the bulk option to “generate new thumbnails” under manage gallery and it updated all the thumbnails whereafter they also showed up in my posts.

Hope this bypass helps untill the problem is solved.

    kowiepro, Thank you for that.

I tried generating new thumbnails and got an error: “GD library not installed.” But If did find the file gd.thumbnail.inc.php in the plugin lib folder. I have used next gen before in WP 2.9.1 with no problems. This was a new install of the plugin on a site that started as 2.9.2, and I have this problem. It might be a compatibility issue.

Do I need to install the full GD library somewhere?
