• Hi,
I have tried everything I can find to switch the comments on on my blog https://www.TheThermalCook.com but to no avail. I have set everything up in the dashboard under discussions to allow comments. I have then ticked the allow comments box on the posting but I still get Comments off and the end of the post. The other thing that happens is when I tick the box on post and then publish, once published the box then is once again unticked.
Please help if you can because I have now spent days on it.
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

esmi thank you for your reply. I am a little concerned in switching off all the plug ins because presumably I will loose some of the layouts etc I have set up with them. Is there a plugging for comments that would work. I have had a look through the plug ins and find the descriptions in most cases not very helpful in identifying what exactly they do.
    Thanks
    Dave

No – there isn’t a plugin that will, effectively, fix a “broken” install. You really so need to try deactivating all plugins as a conflicting plugin is the most likely cause. Providing you don’t delete any plugins, you shouldn’t loose any settings but if you’re worried, take screenshots of the individual plugin settings pages and save them on your machine to refer to if you have to set things back up again.
