    Hi,
My name is Vishal. I am getting a missing description error in the google merchant center.

So, the problem can be the use of shortcodes. Currently, I’m using elementor templates for descriptions and shortcodes to display product descriptions.

Maybe, I need a custom code that can start processing shortcodes as product descriptions.

Facebook for woocommerce plugin is processing shortcodes so I guess you should too.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @vlohar08,

It’s not easy to tell what may be causing this error when the functionalities of other third party plugins are involved.

As a next step, I’d recommend testing how it behaves without using Elementor templates for descriptions and shortcodes to display product descriptions.

If it works just fine, then you will want to contact Elementor to know more about what could be the reason of the error.

In case, the behavior persist with only WooCommerce Core features, please reply here with steps to replicate and the screenshot of the full error message.

It is not the problem of elementor or woocommerce. Your plugin is not accepting Shortcodes as descriptions. I am using Facebook for the woocommerce plugin and it perfectly syncs Description through shortcodes.

So, I just need a custom code that can add support of shortcode description.

I have build elementor description templates and those templates can be used using a shortcode.

    Hello @vlohar08,

After looking a little more closely at the issue, stripping shortcodes out of the description was an intentional decision to limit unwanted output from page builders, themes, and other plugins which add shortcodes to product descriptions for the sake of formatting or adding other content that isn’t allowed in Google Product Descriptions or fills them with meaningless code. There is no way to tell a useful shortcode like the one you want to add and one which will negatively impact the output for the Google description, so stripping them all out is the safest method.

I do think it would be a valuable addition to the plugin to be able to use shortcodes if you want to, and I’ve added this as a feature request on your behalf on the official development repository: https://github.com/woocommerce/google-listings-and-ads/issues/907

You are welcome to add a thumbs-up reaction to the issue and contribute your comments – both actions help the developers know that the feature is desirable for the community as they consider the idea.

Sorry this isn’t a feature at the moment, but I hope that helps explain the current behavior and that I’ve helped express your need to the developers. I’m marking this as ‘Resolved’ since it is not a current feature and now has a feature request filed, and if you have any further questions please let us know with a reply.

    Thanks!
