    Hi,

After the latest update WP core, Wordfence plugins message for problems low risc:

Translation: “old WordPress core files not removed during the update”

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles-rtl.css

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles-rtl.min.css

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles.css

    * Oud WordPress core bestand niet verwijderd tijdens update: wp-includes/css/dist/editor/editor-styles.min.css`

Should we remove these files ourselfs manually ( fun when you have 100+ sites to remove it from) or will this be taken care of with the next update?

    Thanks,
    Annie

  • @logologics I think this may be a legitimate bug – thank you for reporting it! I created a Trac ticket for it and hopefully it will be fixed in WordPress 5.8.1 – meaning you won’t need to remove these files manually.

Were you using the beta test plugin? I found that going from 5.8 RC4 to 5.8 left files behind.

Nope, no beta version in my case.

I also received an email from Wordfence:

In the meantime I just clicked the ‘delete all deletable files’ button, no harm done.

    Will this be resolved soon?

I also just got same notification.

Just received the same message from WF after updating to 5.8. Thanks for raising this to the WP team. Following this thread to see when an update has been made to address this. Thanks again @logologics

Is there a way to disable looking for old files? I’m getting this on almost all of the sites I manage. Getting tons of emails daily. Please fix or offer suggestions.
