• Good Day Thomas,

I have wordpress woocommerce with both simple and variable products. I just installed your plugin gtm4wp. I have also installed your container in my GTM.

My variable products are getting the Dynamic Remarketing – Product ID, Page Type and Total Value.

But my simple products’ Dynamic Remarketing variables are left undefined.

(I used GTM preview to check and got the above) See screenshot here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qt3k02gahztmb1r/Screen%20Shot%202021-07-21%20at%2014.46.04.png?dl=0

Is that an intended behaviour? I understand that we should be upgrading to GA4 but I have legacy (linking to Google Ads) that I still need to use this old GA3 way to use these 3 dynamic remarketing variables.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Will it help if I check the box “Google Ads Remarketing” (deprecated) ?

    Hi,

Yes, you need to enable this deprecated option in order to have the old fashioned ecomm_ variables in the data layer.

Just to be very clear: the new dyn remarketing tagging is is only bound to GA4 in terms of parameter handling.

You are not required to use GA4 in order to use the new codes for Google Ads.
It is just that Google Ads dyn remarketing and GA4 share the same code structure therefore IF you have GA4 setup, it is quite easy to setup Google Ads dynamic remarketing as well.

But you can also use the new way of Google Ads dynamic remarketing without setting up GA4 tracking.
