• I kinda like the standard wordpress Meta Widget, but I would like to edit it.

It seems like there are a lot of people who want to do the same thing, but over the last few years worth of forum entries, people say either that it can’t be done or that you need some quick fix plugin.

I want to accomplish 2 things. I want to get rid of the wordpress link and the comment RSS link, AND I want to replace the text link to the login, RSS feed, registration, and profile with png image buttons.

I have my blog set up to hide the dashboard from logged in subscribers, so the “site admin” link in meta could be replaced with a simple button that says profile.

I already have a set of buttons that I’ve made in photoshop, but I don’t know how to use them to replace the text links in the meta widget. Does anybody have any ideas?

  • Couldn’t you just determine where those links lead, then instead of using the Meta Widget, just use a text widget with your ‘buttons’?

I thought about that. But I don’t know how to code it to do what I want.

With the meta widget, once a user is logged on, they no longer see the “login” and “registration” links. The links are changed to “logout” and “site admin.”

I like the way that works, and I don’t know how to code something similar in a text widget. I just want to replace them with buttons to make it blend better with my theme.
