Trying to Remove Link for Publisher/Series

The easiest way to do this would be via a filter function in your theme’s functions.php file.

add_filter( 'rcno_taxonomy_strip_tags', function ( $strip, $taxonomy ) {
	if ( $taxonomy &&
	     ( 'rcno_series' === $taxonomy->name || 'rcno_publisher' === $taxonomy->name )
	) {
		return true;
	}

	return $strip;
}, 11, 2 );

Hmmmm this one does not seem to work….Nothing seems to happen when I add this filter…

Are you familiar with the var_dump() function? You can use it to check what is the value for $taxonomy->name on your website.

So I think I may have a different issue.

I see the apply_filter being called on rcno_book_description_word_count in /recencio-book-reviews/public/class-rcno-template-tags.php but I cannot locate the rcno_taxonomy_strip_tags filter being applied anywhere.

The plugin version I have is Version 1.44.0.

Could it be that the filter should be of a different name?

Using the var_dump I am able to see that this filter is not applied at all ie invoked.

The filter was introduced in v1.46.0

So upgrading right now is not a possibility.

Also, added just the one piece of code in the plugin, namely

if ( ( ! $link && ! is_wp_error( $terms ) ) || apply_filters( ‘rcno_taxonomy_strip_tags’, false, $tax ) ) {
$terms = strip_tags( $terms )
}

but that also did not work.

Is there something else that can be done?

I would like the name of the publisher without the url.

Which template are you using for your reviews?

We have default specified on the setting side for the plugin, however, on the backend we have created a custom template based on the default template code.

Try wrapping the $terms variable with strip_tags() on line 488

Changing this:
$out .= $this->get_the_rcno_taxonomy_terms( $review_id, $key, true );
to this:
$out .= $this->get_the_rcno_taxonomy_terms( $review_id, $key, true, ‘, ‘, false );

in the case where the key === ‘rcno_publisher’
