“Calculate shipping” in Cart only works with zip code, but not with State or City name. For instance, if a customer enters a zip code to calculate the shipping cost estimate, it returns and displays $ amount right. But if enters (or select) only State name, it shows an error message “No shipping method options are available for CA”. Entering both State and City name without a zip code displays the same error message. So USPS Simple extension shipping cost estimate seems to only work with a zip code, which confuses customers getting an error message by entering State and/or City names. Did I misconfigure it or this is as designed?

    Hello,

That’s how USPS works. The shipping prices are defined per zip code. There is no way to determine the shipping price for a city or a state since a city/state has multiple applicable zip codes.

How difficult would it be to reconfigure to present only the zip code field initially to return the accurate result? The entire address would be captured during the subsequent data set as the order information is requested, right?

Changing appearance of the cart/checkout form is out of the scope of this plugin. Take a look at the WooCommerce Checkout Field Editor plugin or a similar one.

Thank you for your comments. I’d search and try plugins to edit the shipping cost estimate section of Cart page, not Checkout page. meantime, I show visitors to warn to use a zip code to calculate the shipping cost estimate.
