It seems you’ve two separate sitemaps exists on your website:

    https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap.xml [by JetPack]
    https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap_index.xml [by Yoast SEO]

We recommend keeping only one sitemap to avoid any conflicts. It looks like you’ve Yoast SEO sitemap showing the new changes.

I am a novice and dont know anything about it, now today the WP support guys write exactly this:

Good news, the sitemaps are now correctly updated.

By default the Jetpack sitemap doesn't include products, so we added a code snippet at https://uniformsarees.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=edit-snippet&id=6

Going forward, this shall ensure that the sitemap covers products as well.

Now I too flushed the catch and did some on off thing with yoast and resubmitted the sitemaps using this link:

    https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap.xml

and this time all the 325 fresh pages did appeared in google console, though not yet fully crawled but they got added so may be in few days the product pages, which are important to me will appear in google console as valid url

now you tell me how to keep one site map and which one to keep, see mine is a corporate identity website no ecommerce yet I want to showcase my products, so I made this shop with INQ button, and each product has an individual page, for SEO reasosns only. Plz guide as you are an expert.

    Hello,

We recommend sticking with the Yoast-generated sitemap at https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap_index.xml and submitting that to search engines. For the activated Jetpack sitemap, you can disable the sitemap feature by going to Jetpack > Settings > Traffic and disable “Generate XML sitemap”.

I am a newbie here so plz guide me up, you are right when I clicked on the link you gave of Yoast Sitemap there are 17 sitemaps there which I need to submit to google, but before I do that, I need a little of your guidance

    # Should I submit all those sitemap irrespective of dates

    # What Happens to my earlier JetPack generated sitemaps which I submitted, hope that wont create any problem.

I am asking this coz, search console has though accepted the JetPack generated sitemap buy my shop page and product pages are indexed but do not appear in coverage.

    Plz advise.

PS: I have disabled the jetpack site map generation option

Should I submit all those sitemaps irrespective of dates
You should only submit the sitemap index, that is, https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap_index.xml

What Happens to my earlier JetPack generated sitemaps which I submitted https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap.xml gets redirected to https://uniformsarees.com/sitemap_index.xml. This creates no problem at all.

    Thanks!

@maybellyne thanks for your kind guidance, I submitted the Yoast sitemap and google has accepted few pages and I guess it may take few more days for all the pages to be accepted, I would like to hold on to this thread for few more days, as I will update you if it worked or not, I tell you what exactly is my goal:

mine is a cooperate identity B2B website wherein product images holds a great value for SEO, so I added woocommerce addon to my website but just to showcase the products, I have uploaded almost 750 products with “Inq Now” button instead of Ecom add to cart button.

I hope there is no problem google accept these product pages url in sitemap and index them for search engine.

I will come back with update in few days.

Thanks in advance for your kind help, god bless you.

@maybellyne I hv some update for you and I need your help too:

I am done with updating and uploading my website, in nutshell I am done with everything I wanted in my website, major part is in my product showcase I uploaded almost 1000 products, and all got uploaded smoothly and I checked the sitemap index, yoast plugin created the sitemap nicely and all the url are there in the sitemap.

I submitted the sitemap as instructed by you but despite having almost 1000 url just in shop page and rest few other pages, in google console only 244 pages are visible there as indexed out of those most are irrelevant extra theme pages which I already deleted, important product pages are indexed only around 35 pages only, can you tell me any reason behind it, I checked yoast setting and all looks OK.

    Plz guide.

Thanks for getting back to us. Even though you have deleted unnecessary pages from your website, Google crawler already found those URLs from your website and either crawled or indexed them already. So, if you have deleted them from your website, it will take a little while for Google to drop them from its indexed.

On the other hand, even though you have 1000 URLs in the submitted sitemaps, it doesn’t mean that Google will index all of them in one go. Google will crawl them based on many different factors and if everything goes already, Google will crawl all of them but that will take a little while. We are unable to confirm how long that might take for your website as it depends on a number of factors and isn’t specific to the Yoast SEO plugin but to Google itself.

We hope that clarifies your query better now!
