New Users Are Given NO role upon registering

  • Hello, I just created my website and assigned the reader role as the default role to be automatically assigned for any new members that register. But when a new member is registered, they are given NO role at all. I also installed the Hide Admin Bar depending on user roles and this hide bar should work, but because these new members aren’t automatically assigned the default READER role, they’re still able to see the admin bar too (a loophole-ish). I have tried using the User Role Editor plugins and similar things and it is also in-built into the wordpress admin dashboard to automatically assign ONE default role to new users so I’m really desperate for help… Any solution would be much appreciated, thank you!

  • WordPress does not have a Reader role. The available user roles are Subscriber, Contributor, Author, Editor, Admininstrator.

    Are you using a plugin to allow user registration? If so, you should post a support request in the plugin support forum.
