Unable to create directory

  • When trying to upload a downloaded .zip theme.. I get :

    Unable to create directory xxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    I’ve looked around about changing the folder settigs to 777 etc… but haven’t understood it so far. I know how to access it through a FTP client but am not clear on which folders to change etc.

    Can someone please explain?

    Reset the upload directory path from wordpress admin area and assign 755 recursive permissions to wp-content folder with the help of your web hosting service provider.

    my folder settings are 777 – but I am getting this for uploading images? Same deal?
