    Hi

Been using AMP stories still the beginning however I now have an issue. Ive started using Google Cloud to store images that are imported into wordpress posts. When I goto media library in wordpress I can see them fine, however when I’m in AMP stories I cant see them. Also when I upload an image directly from within AMP stories they still dont work?

  • @bikerbloke Hi there, thank you for posting your topic. We’ll be happy to check on this, but let’s gather a few more details. To confirm, you are having issues uploading images inside the Web Stories editor, correct?

If possible, could you share a screen recording of the issue? You can use services like JumpShare or Recordit to share.

    Who is your hosting provider?

Could you provide your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

The issue isnt that cant upload images uploading is fine when I upload them in posts and show up in media library.

However since Ive started using Google cloud to store my images thumbnails of the said images no longer show within web stories. Also if I try to upload within web stories try than taking from media library they still dont sho up

    @bikerbloke Thank you for clarifying.

    1. If possible, could you share a screenshot of what you see in the Web Stories media library window?

    2. Can you check for any browser console errors? If there are any, please paste the error or share a screenshot.

    3. Also, can you confirm these issues occur in v1.8.0 of the plugin?

    I have version 1.8.0 installed

The first screen is my media library and the images are in the cloud and you can add them to posts (second screen grab) but when you go into web stories you can no longer see the images.

Which plugin are you using to store your images externally like this?

    (@bikerbloke)

    MEDIA CLOUD 4.2.36 premium

@bikerbloke The Web Stories video optimization feature requires a feature called cross-origin isolation. You may notice CORs errors in the browser console while in the Web Stories editor. This CORS error occurs when your site is trying to load files from a different domain than your WordPress domain, so for this to work, external resources being loaded from a different host need to provide an Access-Control-Allow-Origin header. Your provider can help you adjust your CORS settings to make them less restrictive and allow these files to be accessed or you’ll need to update the cloud bucket configuration to send the correct CORS headers in Google Cloud Storage. The plugin you are using also has documentation you can follow to set up the CORs configuration as well.

If you require further assistance with setting the header, please contact your website administrator or hosting provider.

    Hi

I asked my hosting company to do what you asked and they did and I also stopped sending images to the cloud and store them locally to see if that would work.

It hasnt worked, do you know if I can get a the previous version of the plugin to test and see if it was the update thats caused the issues?

Although you can download a previous version from Web Stories GitHub repository, we highly recommend always installing the latest version of the plugin instead of downgrading.

    1. Can you confirm you’re still seeing these issues after updating the CORS settings, after clearing any server-side caching, and in an incognito window?

    2. Could you please check for any browser console errors after you open the editor and share those details? You can copy/paste it here or share a screenshot.

    3. Lastly, can you please try the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    – Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
    – Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    – Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.
