We are using the WP Google Analytics Events plugin. The update we received on June 9, 2021 caused many anchor tags to lead to <site URL OR current URL>/undefined. It happens with anchor tags on both internal and external links. The link in the anchor tag is correct (for instance, Rt click > Open Link in New Tab works in Chrome). It is the act of clicking on the anchor that is causing the failure.

Deactivating the plugin resolves the issue (and obviously also disables our event analytic tracking). We have fixed the site, so we do not have a broken version to show. However, we can reproduce the error if needed by turning the plugin back on. There are no related JS console errors.

Is there any explanation for why this latest update is causing these behaviors? What can we do to troubleshoot and get these analytics restored?

  • My website has been experiencing the same thing after the latest update too.
It’s weird, but some of the links in the same URL become /undefined, while others are fine.
And, other websites that use this plugin do not have this problem.

I have now reverted to version 2.6.0. After doing so, it is working fine.

Having exactly the same issue here.

@wesnealpi can you send me a link to a page where this happened?

@mseb @tsurudamayumi so far we haven’t been able to reproduce the issue.
If you could share a link to a page and point me to such a link it would be a big help.

    thanks,

I managed to reproduce the bug and currently working on a fix.
You should expect an update soon.

Hi, same problem here on our website since the update https://www.crossfiticke.com/crossfit-berlin/

Any button that hat an Element-ID that is tracked by GA Events Manager plugin returns in an undefined URL.

We will deactivte the plugin for now.

I have same problems. I got google alert because of increasing numbers of error404. In my case all navigation elements on website did not work (/undefined), when version 2.6.1 was installed. Rollback to 2.6.0 fixed it – so a problem with the update.

    Hi @yuvalo,

Thank you so much for solving the problem so quickly!
I’m sorry for the late reply and for not being able to submit my website.
I tried the latest version, and the problem was solved.

    Thank you very much.
    I really appreciate it!

Yes, solutions seems to work. With 2.6.2 no problems any longer.

Glad to hear it solved the problem.
I’ll mark this as solved for now but let me know if you encounter anything else.

    Hi there,

I made a rollback to 2.6.0 some days ago and just tested the fix with 2.6.2 and still have the same issue unfortunately. Clicking on our shop link it gets a 404 error because of undefined added, now I switched back again to 2.6.0.

    Thx,
    Mirko

    @mseb

Is it possible that it’s a cache issue? Can you try clearing it after upgrading to the latest?

    Yuval

I did and didn’t help…. Also the cached files would be supposed to work due to my roll back before.
