    Hello,
Earlier today, I had trouble accessing my website and when I tried contacting my hosting provider and said that I’m using too much RAM. Below is what the support has said:

“`Besides this requests from Jetpack account for the 50%:

    wp_9hiz2hdb:~/logs/mywebsite.com/http$ grep -c 192.0
    access.log.0
    18693

The requests go to xmlrpc.php?body-hash. I am not sure which function is
creating these, you might want to check with the Automattic team.` ”

Thought I don’t want to, will disabling xmlrpc.php fix this issue? or is it something else?

    Regards,

The xmlrpc.php file is used by Jetpack and other plugins and apps to connect to your site, so disabling it won’t fix this issue, it will just keep us from being able to communicate with the site.

Could you share your site’s URL (domain) here, so we can have a look for clues?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this form here.

    Thanks!

That’s exactly why I don’t want to disable xmlrpc.php since I frequently use the wordpress app to check my site.

    Hey there, @harmonyous

Thanks for sharing the site address.

Most of Jetpack is designed to speed up your site by taking the load off of your server, like our site accelerator, stats, subscriptions, and related posts, which are all processed on our end (rather than hammering your database).

Could you please make sure that you’re only using the Jetpack modules you want?

Here’s how you can control (disable/enable) modules:

If there are any modules that you are not using, you can disable them. After that, can you check if that helps? You may not see the result quickly, but I think there should be some change after few hours.

    Hi Animesh,
I’ve been using jetpack for 5 years so I only have the bare minimum module and those 13 modules are what I deemed necessary. I never suspected jetpack as the source until it was checked by my host provider support.
Taking 50% of my allotted RAM is kind of alarming but I don’t want to disable jetpack that’s why I’m asking a fix. My webhost provider support identified that there’s too much request coming from (or going to?) xmlrpc.php?body-hash and I only want to prevent that from happening again.

    Hi @harmonyous

Many of Jetpack’s features, which utilize the connection to your WordPress.com account, will make requests over XML-RPC.

It could be that your host needs to increase your site’s memory allocation. If you’re still concerned about the number of requests, we would need to see a more detailed list of the requests being made in order to advise further.
