I recently started a fresh WP install and added Thrive themes — https://thrivethemes.com/ — and MaxButton (along with other plugins). I was noticing weird behavior with Thrive so contacted their support. They did a bunch of troubleshooting and narrowed it down to MaxButton plugin conflict. Early this week I had to make some edits to my theme and no changes were persisting. After deactivating MB, my changes started to save correctly. I’m fairly confident MB is causing a plugin conflict with Thrive Themes.

    Here are my repro steps:
    1. fresh install of WP
    2. install MB
    3. install Thrive Themes
    4. try to add new blocks to the blog post template. Take note how nothing seems to persist.

Sorry I can’t be more descriptive, and I’m simply leaving this here just in case others may be experiencing the same thing since I solved this with a workaround: deactivate MB, make my changes to Thrive, re-activate MB.

Thanks for the great plugin btw! We love it and it’s saved us ton of hours.

    Hi,

The problem is happening with some Thrive customizer? I assume we are not talking about Gutenberg here?

Perhaps you can hit F12 ( developer console ) in your browser, refresh that page and tell me the errors you are in the console when this combination is activated?

Correct, it occurs with a thrive theme layout customization screen.

    There are no console errors.

Here is a video of us trying to add a new element to the thrive template page: https://share.getcloudapp.com/mXupwroB

After contacting support, they responded with an explanation and their own video after deactivating MB:

I suspected this to be a plugin conflict and so I deactivated all of your non-Thrive plugins. After doing this, I was able to successfully add these elements to your template. Please see this video for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/E0uYxNPR
I then went through and reactivated your non-Thrive plugins one by one and found that the plugin causing the problem is the MaxButtons plugin. When this plugin is deactivated, you can add elements to your template with no problems.
All Thrive products are built in accordance with the WordPress codex and should work with other plugins built to the same guidelines and standards. With that in mind, we would recommend that you reach out to the developer of the MaxButtons plugin and explain the issue that is being caused so that they can investigate it.

    Hi,

I’ve contacted them, but sadly they don’t give out developer editions of their themes, so I’ll not be able to test it directly.

If there are no console errors ( makes me wonder what else it could be ), I’m not sure where to even start looking.
