• Hello,

I have been beating my head against the wall, desk, chair and everything I can trying to get this site to auto update. No matter what I do I keep getting the error “Another update is currently in progress”
Current installed version is 7.0. Update version shown needed to install is 7.2
Here is everything I have tried all without success:
    Disable all plugins
Install the plugin ‘Fix Another Update Currently in Progress” and run
Remove core_update.lock from the options database table (this was not even there)
Heck I even discovered that my cPanel now offers WordPress Tookkit where it will perform the updates from inside the cPanel (same error).

So as you can see, nothing seems to work. I keep searching and finding no solution. If anyone has any ideas I am open to try them.

    Thanks!

If you are talking about WP update, please note there is no such thing as 7.0 or 7.2 version, yet.

The current version of WP is 5.7.2

Are you then referring to some plugin version or some theme version?

Sorry, that was my brain recovering from the beating. Version is 5.7 trying to upgrade to 5.7.2.

Auto updates can fail for a large number of reasons and it is often hard to diagnose the failure due to specific configurations present on each server running the update. For example, permissions may be incorrectly set, the unpacking of the new version might not have been properly verified due to high system loads with your host if many users are updating at the same time or they have a very loaded service, An IO hang, files are being validity checked and they fail due to a corrupted bit. There are many more reasons that things could have failed. Honestly there’s no good way to track down why a partial update occurred, we can only recommend what to do if one does occur:

Try manually upgrading. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file for this release (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server (NOTE: do not delete the wp-content directory or your wp-config.php file) Read the Manual Update directions first.
