    Hi all,

We have this plugin installed, configured, and running (so JetPack is running as well). Everything is configured per the settings (so “Enable Automatic Taxes” is selected, along with everything that goes with it). I’ve compared it to the setup guide, and everything is perfect. If I check “Health” in the status, everything is green/checked as well.

However, no sales tax is ever applied, with one exception. In the “Standard Rates” tab, We DO have a handful of ZIP codes there. For users in those areas, tax IS applied. It seems like everywhere else is ignored, and it shouldn’t be, correct? We’ve had people in different states testing, and outside of those few ZIPs (provided in Standard Rates), no one is taxed.

The other thing of note is regarding TaxJar. We don’t have it installed/running (because no documentation mentions it). HOWEVER, when I check out the “Taxes Log” for the plugin, each transaction says, “TaxJar Requested.” It doesn’t say required, though. But does this mean the plugin is needed for taxes to work correctly?

    Thanks!

    Hi @cfjwagner,

Please note that even if the tax value for an order is 0.00, Automated Taxes may be working correctly. If your store is based in the United States, you only need to collect sales tax from customers in locations where you have a “tax nexus,” which typically means a physical presence. WooCommerce Services uses your store address (WooCommerce > Settings > General) as your “tax nexus”. More details are here.

Could you please share one of the recent logs from WooCommerce > Status > WooCommerce Shipping & Tax so that we can check what’s going on here?

    Thanks!

Thanks Shohan! I can absolutely share a log. Is there somewhere I can send it? Because it has some potential personal information, I don’t necessarily want it public here. If you’d rather me paste it here, I’ll go thru and remove the address info (leaving the ZIP).

    Hi there,

You can share the logs at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.

We will be able to help you further there.

Thanks!! I’ve included a link and all the relevant info there. It errored out a couple times, so hopefully all went through. If you need anything else (or there were any issues), let me know.

    Thanks again!

    Hey there!

    Thanks for letting us know.
We found your reply, we will get back to you on this shortly.

    Hi @cfjwagner,

We received the ticket in the system (as confirmed earlier) and have replied – it should be all OK and I went into detail in the ticket regarding how it works/etc. If you have further questions go ahead and ask in the ticket so we can keep it in one place.

    Cheers!
