    Hi,

I’m sure this must be very straight forward, but I can’t seem to find the solution.

I use the Woocommerce Dynamic Pricing plugin, to apply discounts when customers buy in bulk and this works perfectly. But i also want to add a box or a pallet to the shipping, when a product quantity reaches a specific number. This is where I get problems.

For example; I have a box of ‘Packing Tapes’ which I sell in various quantities. The more you buy, the less it costs.
If the user buys one to four boxes, I send them in a bigger box. However, if the user buys 5+ boxes, I put them on a pallet. If they buy 10+ boxes, I put them on a bigger pallet.

Now I know that I can create ‘product variations’ which allow me to specify the size and weight for a single buy, 5 boxes or 10 boxes, however if a customer wants to buy 6 boxes, I cannot apply a discount to the 6th box.
The only way I can control this is to use the ‘Simple Product’ layout where the customer can pick exactly how many boxes they want and get the appropriate discount.
Problem is, how do I tell Woocommerce to include the weight and dimensions of a pallet when 5+ boxes are added to the cart.

I’ve looked at Table Rates but I dont think they will do this. I also looked at some product buddle plugins, but they seem more geared towards bundling and not the shipping component.
Please could someone advise how I can configure Woocoomerce or one of its plugins to do this. I am happy to buy a plugin if necessary.

    Thanks in advance.

Is there any chance of getting response to this. Surely I am not the only person in the world who wants to a pallet weight dimension for shipping, based on quantity?

    Hey there!

This would be done in the shipping plugin you are using.

For instance, with the FedEx plugin ( https://woocommerce.com/products/fedex-shipping-module/ ) you add in the weight and dimensions of the products, and the FedEx plugin does all the box packing calculations based on the items ordered. It also can calculate freight shipping, etc.

Hopefully that helps! Have a great one!

    Hi Andy,
Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately the business is a start up company. We are in Australia and without committing to tens of thousands of dollars worth of shipping, we cannot access the likes of FedEx and so on. In Australia the only Shipping company available without expensive contracts is Transdirect Shipping, but sadly their plugin removes critical functionally from Woocommerce, rendering it useless in most applications. This has been reported to their plugin team by many developers, but they have never sought to resolve it. Silly them, they could corner the market.

As such I, (like most developers over here), who develop websites with a wide variety of products, size, weights and destinations are forced to use Table Rates, especially for the larger Pallet and Skid shipping. Therefore being able to tell Woocommerce that when a quantity threshold is meet, a Pallet or skid should be added. Again, Transdirect can do this, but removes shipping classes, zones and all of the other Woocommerce shipping settings.

I am using the Easyship plugin, which works for smaller items, but they do not support couriers of larger pallet shipping. Is there a rule I can add or something I can do, to add pallet and skid dimensions internally in Woocommerce or WordPress?

    Thanks

    Hi @troyw2015,

I understand you want to develop some customization to include the weight and dimensions of a pallet when 5+ boxes are added to the cart. This can’t be achieved by default in WooCommerce and if you do require more help with the actual coding, we’d recommend hiring a developer or one of the customization experts listed at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/.

    Cheers.

    Hey again!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
