    Hello,
I have a recipe foodblog and I use Yoast SEO plugin (it is awesome btw.). However, I found out that Google does not show it as I can see the preview.

I tried to search in your Help Centre section for this topic, but I honestly do not have much knowledge about meta descriptions, programming and these things, so I didn’t find out, where the problem is. When I try to search it myself (name of recipe + name of my blog), it does not show neither picture, nor the description that I made. I know that it will not show for the new posts, but I tried to search some older ones, and it does not work as well. I have no idea how to fix this, so I would really appreciate, if you can give me any advice.

    Thank you.
    Jana

@thefoodspiration We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

We checked on the home page of your site and see the Title and Meta Description are output as the following:

    <title>The FoodSpiration | Vegan Recipes | Vegetarian Recipes | Healthy Desserts</title>
<meta name="description" content="The FoodSpiration. A place where you can find healthy and quick Vegetarian & Vegan recipes and meals that can be handled in everyday life. Check our website!" />

Can you please confirm whether this is what you input in the plugin settings?

We also checked in a Google search here and confirmed that this is what Google is showing in the preview (see image here).

    Hello,
Thank you so much for your answer. This is what I can see in the Yoast SEO settings:

So, yes, I can confirm this Title and Meta Description.

    Kind regards,

    @thefoodspiration Thanks for your reply.

We reviewed the image you provided and do see that your settings for SEO Title and Meta Description match what is being output for the home page of your site. Also, this is what we are seeing in Google’s search results when we do a search for site:thefoodspiration.com.

Can you please let us know what you are searching in Google when you are seeing the title and meta description output incorrectly?

Also, if you clear your cache does this resolve the issue? We have information on how to clear your browser cache at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-clear-my-browsers-cache/.

    Hello,
I think we misunderstood each other. Title and meta description of the site is not a problem, the problem is the recipes, each posts itself.
When I write a new recipe post, I fill in the Google preview description etc. and I can see this in my WordPress post editor:
    https://paste.pics/CC6AE

But then I try to search this recipe in Google – I type in vegan alfredo sauce salad thefoodspiration. And this is what I see:
    https://paste.pics/CC6AM

No picture, different description. It is the same with all recipes. I would understand it with new ones, where it takes time before Google finds them, but it is the same with old posts as well.

Thank you for helping me with this.

    Kind regards,
    Jana

@thefoodspiration Thanks for your reply and for the clarification.

We reviewed the images you provided and on the first, the view you are looking at for the Google preview in Yoast SEO is the ‘Mobile result’ view. In the second image you provided it appears to be displaying the Google results for a Desktop search.

If you are previewing your page in the Yoast SEO meta box and want to see the preview as the ‘Desktop result’ all you would need to do is toggle the ‘Preview as’ feature from ‘Mobile result’ to ‘Desktop result’ (see image here).

Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and let us know whether changing this preview type matches your expectation?

    Hello,
Yes, I understand that there is a preview for phone and for the desktop. But it does not show correctly on my phone either. No picture there when I google it with phone.

I understand that there is no picture for desktop now. But is it possible to add the picture in desktop searches? I know that usually recipe blogs have picture there when you see their recipes on Google through desktop PC.

    Thank you.

Thanks for your clarification. We can confirm that Yoast SEO adds the necessary schema markup to add the image in the search results. However, it is up to search engines to decide when to show an image and for what URLs. Unfortunately, no one has any control over this.
