• Hey,

I need to update a 6 years old wordpressite which runs on WordPress 5.1.9 and on PHP 5.5.

I duplicated the page on the same Server into a “Neu” folder and connected it with another domain which I put on PHP 7.4. Of course it caused many many errors and issues so I turned all Plugins of via FTP but the errors still stay as the page uses the “old” plugin from the running page.

The path of the used plugins written on the page is “htdocs/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce” and not “Neu/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce” as wanted. How can I change that the duplicated plugins are used? The Domain is totally right connected to the “Neu” folder.

Also is there any way to fix those problems easy? My plan was to turn off plugins and theme until I am able to log into the backend, then update WordPress, Plugins and Theme and hope it will run again? I haven’t done something like this before so I am very thankful for every help!

    Thanks!

  • You need to do more than just copy the files and database.
This is an article on moving WordPress:

    Moving WordPress

There is a plugin called DUPLICATOR that helps with this.

Once you have the site moved, suggest that you load the PHP compatability checker plugin:

Hey Thank you for your response! I tried the DUPLICATOR Plugin as well as the PHP compatability checker plugin but unfortunately both of them show multiple errors and problems… But I don’t know how to fix those problems…

I also did everything like explained int the link you provided. I already transfered many wordpress pages to other severs and it worked all well until this time where I just duplicated the page but on the same server…
