Hi, I’m hoping someone can help, Google site kit seems to log me out on my wordpress dashboard so i have to go through the sign up steps every time i want to view anything. If i quickly log out and log back into wordpress site kit still shows correctly but it appears that when i go to check it every now and then (maybe every day/other day) it has logged me out and i have to go through the set up again. Its not a huge inconvenience but it is a bit annoying so hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction?

    thanks in advance

Sorry to hear you’re repeatedly disconnected. We’d be happy to investigate this with you to try and determine the cause. In other cases plugins such as language plugins can change your site URL which can result in Site Kit detecting a URL change.

While this may not be the case with your particular if you can share your Site Health information here or privately via this form we can check your current setup.

Many thanks for sharing. I don’t see any obvious plugins active that have URL altering features so we may need to perform additional troubleshooting steps. Before doing so can you share the following:

    1. After you get logged out do you see any dashboard notice, such as “Looks like the URL of your site has changed..” or an access token error?
    2. Has this always been the case with this site, or did this start to occur recently? If just recently do you recall any changes such as modifications to your caching or security plugin?
    3. While you mention this can occur randomly do you recall any particular action that resulted in you having to sign in once more?

Hi James, thanks for coming back to me.

There are no notices on the dashboard after i’m signed out that i can recall, it just states ‘sign in’ (or sign up, something like that) when i do it then takes me to google and says something along the lines of ‘lets get you started’ but all the options about authenticating that its my domain etc all already have green ticks in.

From memory this has always been the case.

At the moment no, i cant recall any particular pattern. having looked back through my emails (because i get a security alert emailed to me every time i have to sign in again) it happened on the 10/03/2021, 17/03/2021 and on the 04/04/2021 (according to the emails i could find). having tried to replicate the issue again yesterday when i logged out and logged back into wordpress straight away site kit was still fine. i didn’t log out of wordpress last night and today it seems fine as well. happy to try some other trouble shooting steps to try and replicate the issue if you let me know what they are?

    Thanks

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

Thanks for the update. When this occurs once more let me know if you notice any message other than the login message and I can see what I can find. The security email is interesting, if this email coming from your security plugin or alternatively from Google requesting you review your connected apps and services? If you want to share more on this feel free to do so via this form.

In relation to troubleshooting steps if you can share a summary of the email notification you receive let’s see if we can unearth anything unusual there first.

Good afternoon, Apologies i haven’t been online for a few days, i have just logged into my website though and have been logged out of site kit again.

I dont seem to be able to paste the snip that i did of the error into this chat but it states:

Connect your Google account to Site Kit
Site Kit has already been configured by another admin of this site. To use Site Kit as well, sign in with your Google account which has access to Google services for this site (e.g. Google Analytics). Once you complete the 3 setup steps, you’ll see stats from all activated Google products.

Help us improve the Site Kit plugin by allowing tracking of anonymous usage stats. All data are treated in accordance with Google Privacy Policy

then there is a button with ‘sign in with google’ on it.

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

Thanks for the response. In that case is it possible that other administrator of your site is removing your Search Console access? By that I mean if Site Kit was setup by another administrator they would be notified by email that there is another owner of the connected Search Console property each time you setup the plugin. At that stage the remove access. Can you please ask the other administrator if known?

If you are not aware of another administrator who setup Site Kit please share your Site Health information privately via this form and I an check your current setup.

    Thread Starter mileshall

    (@mileshall)

Hi James, thanks for coming back to me. its not possible that another admin is removing the access because i am the only admin for the site. my site health information is listed in this discussion above, nothing has changed since previously posting the site health information previously so this should still be up to date…

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

Thanks for the update and apologies, you did provide your Site Health information, which does refer to only one connected user.

If you have access to your error logs at host level it might be useful to see what’s occurring when you become disconnected. The only thing I can think of which may be resulting in such behaviour is a conflict with particular configurations with one of your plugins such as Complianz, Sucuri or WP-Optimize.

As it’s not ideal to deactivate such plugins do you have access to your error logs at host level? Alternatively you can enable your error logs using your wp-config file or a plugin. Once we receive those we can look for any particular error that may be resulting in this disconnection.

    Thread Starter mileshall

    (@mileshall)

Hi James, no worries and thanks for coming back to me. im relatively new to wordpress so i’m not sure how to get access to the error logs at host level? Do i just need to contact my hosting provider and ask them for them and if so from what time period?

    thanks

    Plugin Support James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

No problem at all. The error logs could potentially be quiet large, so ideally for a period from when you were connected to being disconnected only may help determine any issue.

An alternative is to enabling a debug log yourself, by following this guide. If you happen to obtain your logs you can share them via this form, sharing the link to the log files in the “Any other supporting information (optional)” section.

If you find this same issue is occurring between logins and not specifically with data periods you it might be useful if you can temporarily deactivate the mentioned 3 plugins above one at a time, while trying to login or even waiting for a day or so and checking for the same issue. Should the same issue persist try the same with the next of the 3 plugins.

    Hello!

I’m having the same issue with a website, Site Kit keeps logging out after a few days. Could you figure out what the issue was?

    Thank you!
