  • I have the same exact issue. Just today I started getting emails that are in Chinese.

Please let me know if you are able to find a solution or fix.

    Thank you

I am not sure but I think this may have something to do with encoding. The messages sent from my website are sent via PHP Mailer and the encoding is UTF-16, if I change that to UTF-8, messages are readable. My sites are hosted by IONOS.

    Same here.

I fixed my issue by downgrading the plugin Event-On for which an update was released yesterday.

Hi @nicwhitham, glad to see you were able to fix the problem.

It’s interesting that another plugin would affect the character set for your emails and this will be valuable information if anybody with this hosting/plugin combination has the same issue.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

On the plugin forum others are experiencing the same issue – and when disabled (or now downgraged to previous version) the problem goes away.

I am having the same problem on a website for which I updated the EventON plugin. And now the plugin itself is having email problems. I will downgrade immediately. Thank you.

Wow, that deactivating EventON solved the problem. THX!
