About 3-4 days ago my website has been showing the following error

    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

    Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.4-2ubuntu5.10 with Suhosin-Patch Server at https://www.double5.info Port 80

If I made any changes I would simply revert this, the problem however is that I haven’t made any changes in the past few weeks. And yet this problem appeared out of nowhere. I had not accessed the database, admin panel or the FTP. Nothing apart from visiting the website to check the guestbook.

Now another strange thing is that if I create a folder next to the wordpress folders and call it let’s say ‘test’ I can’t visit it by going to https://double5.info/test it doesn’t show 403 forbidden but it shows that it doesn’t exist at all.

I’ve obviously looked around for a possible solutions and I’ve seen people pointing to the chmod settings or the .htaccess but both of these remain to be ‘default’. The root folder and all the wordpress files/flders have the correct and appropriate settings.

I am somewhat at a loss of what to do, is there anyone out there who has experienced the same problem a similiar situation or is able to lend me a hand?

    Sincerely,

    Roswell
