• I am having a problem with my website (https://www.BruceMcKnightWrites.com) using the Resonar theme.

The top menu works great on tablets, but on phones, when the menu is clicked, all the options show up on the bottom of the page, after all the content. This means that in most cases, when someone clicks the menu, they don’t even see it because they don’t know that it’s appearing off-screen.

    Any suggestions?

  • Hi there,

I noticed on the demo site for Resonar when you click on the menu (on mobile) it expands both the menu and the sidebar and covers the website content so it is not normally visible.

But on your site I noticed that the content persists, and is not covered up by the menu at all. If I can ask, what are you using to add that content, it does not look like it is added via the WordPress editor. Are you using the BoldGrid plugin to add content? It seems that something about content added in that plugin forces it to display first, and then the menu is displayed after.

You can see here in my screenshot: https://d.pr/i/jfgubb

If you create a sample test page on your site (created using the default WordPress editor instead of BoldGrid) and then publish that page, does the mobile menu cover that content and show the menu at the top as expected?

    Well that’s eye-opening!

I do most of my work in the classic editor, but it seems to have a similar issue.

I made a couple more test pages called “Classic” (which I built in the classic editor) and “WP Editor” (which I made in the WP editor).

It looks like Classic still has the same issue but WP Editor seems to work properly and puts the menu over the body.

Thank you so much for helping me identify the problem!

Now, for a follow-up question: do you know any way around this besides just always using WP Editor?

I tried creating another test page called “WP 2 Classic” were I created a page in the WP Editor, then went and updated it with the Classic editor (which I like much better). Seems to work ok.

This could be a perfectly acceptable workaround, except for one minor issue:

When I make pages like this, it adds a huge blank space above the body.

I tried CSS to remove set site-header padding-bottom to 0, which helped a little, but there’s still a pretty big space there and thick margins on either side of the content (whereas the other pages went all the way to the edges).

Any ideas on how to shrink those margins?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Hello there,

Many thanks for reaching out with that additional information.

It may be possible to use CSS to reduce those margins, do you have a link to the test page created please?

    Many thanks.

Yes, here is the test page I created:

    https://www.brucemcknightwrites.com/wp-2-classic/

Everything is working the way I would like except for the large black space between the menu and the body content.

I tried some css, but couldn’t fund the right attribute.

Thank you for looking at it!
