    Hi,

    Need help regarding Meta Descriptions.

While evaluating the source code I can find two meta descriptions on all pages. I had only written one meta description for one specific page but the other meta description is by default showing on the header of the page. It is the same description for all pages on the header part.
    Need help with the following:
Is it necessary to have 2 meta descriptions? As per my understanding 2 meta descriptions are not good from an SEO point of view, kindly confirm.
Is RankMath causing this to happen, if yes then how to deactivate it?
If no, then how to know which plugin is causing it to happen and then deactivate it?
I am not an expert, need help in this regard.

    Example of pages –
    Link1 – https://www.thestonestudio.in/product/2-feet-buddha-statue/
    Link2 – https://www.thestonestudio.in/handicraft/buddha-statues/
    Link3 – https://www.thestonestudio.in/product/buddha-fountain-statue/

    Rank Math SEO Plugin
    Bhanu Ahluwalia

    Hello @sangeetaberi01,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

It seems like either your theme or some other plugin is adding the 2nd meta description to your pages. Here’s a screencast showing the same:

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins, themes, and WordPress (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine the culprit, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

You can check the page’s source and search for <meta name="description" tag. Start by activating the default theme and only the Rank Math plugin. Only one tag should be visible.

Then start activating the theme, and every plugin one by one until you start seeing 2 tags in the page’s source. You need to remove that theme or the plugin.

    Hope that helps.
