Installed new copy need to point to old database

    Ok so I created a new copy of wordpress due to issues, now I need to link it to the old database on the same server.
    So far I have edited the wp-config file to the old server name, that didnt work I got this error
    Error establishing a database connection

    Then I tried renaming the old database to the new database name, that is after I changed the name of the new database to prevent issues.
    That doesnt work now I am getting again
    Error establishing a database connection

    I tried also to export then import but it will not let me as the tables are the same name as I am sure most of you already know that doesn’t work.

    So now I am lost and frustrated. All of my paths are correct

    Please help me I am going crazy here ??

    That likely means either the database server is down, or you have something wrong with one or more of the values set via DB_NAME, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, or DB_HOST.
