Not working for custom categories?

Hello,
We are working with The Events Calendar and the custom categories you can add. When adding a condition for a menu the category is shown in “In Categories”. But when choosing the category the menu is not shown on the site. Are there compatibility issues with custom categories that are not wordpress categories that can be found in your Plugin (when choosing a condition) in “Categories”?
