Hello whenever I try to make changes I’m getting 403 in various areas of my website. I tried deactivating and it still happened so I removed and it is still popping up 403 errors. I have contacted my host and they were not helpful. I have contacted cloudflare but not heard back yet. Now that I’m seeing this error is popping up with wordfence imaging and I’m thinking it might be the plugin left something behind. Originally I was seeing the error in elementor so thought the issue did lie with wordfence but after trying another change perhaps it does. I did read some forums that said it couldbe on another website with the same server but my other site does not have wordfence. Any help?

Hello @jennsummers and thanks for reaching out to us!

To ensure you have completely removed Wordfence, follow these steps:

    • Remove extended protection manually (https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#removing-the-optimization)
    • Remove the wordfence plugin folder located in wp-content/plugins
    • Remove the wflogs folder located in wp-content
    • Remove wordfence-waf.php located in the root of you WordPress installation
    • Remove all Wordfence related database tables from the database, using for example phpMyAdmin or Wordfence Assistant plugin.
    • Check either .htaccess file or .user.ini depending on your server configuration and remove any code snippets wrapped by # Wordfence WAF and # END Wordfence WAF.
