    When I self pingback to another post on my blog.I am getting a spammy domain name in all trackbacks even self pings you can see the domain jetamexmusic in the email. I have nothing to do with this domain name and my own was never registered before. Could this be a plugin I am using?

  • That website may be hosted at your web host from what I can see. So you might want to look at your own DNS records (looking towards the reverse lookup especially). Your web host might be able to help figure that out. Your Cloudflare DNS records might confuse the issue also.

    The mechanism that does pingbacks and trackbacks is probably doing a reverse lookup of your IP address and coming up with that address instead of your own domain name due to the missing reverse records. You probably want that to be corrected to lessen the chance of confusion.

    Let us know what you find out… please.

    Here is what my host said I guess I can do nothing about it.

    `Hello,

    Thanks for writing in, your site is setup on a shared server.

    It seems that the outside domain is being returned by the service you’re
    using for that IP.

    Please note there are hundred of domains setup on the same apache
    instance:

    apache2-pat.footprint.dreamhost.com

    Please let me know if I misunderstood the issue.`
