    Hi

When I try to configurate Wordfence it doesn’t work. It keeps saying I need to configurate Wordfence – even after a week without touching it. I’ve tried the recommended settings – and all the other possible settings too. Nothing works.

    I have one.com hosting.

    (Manual configuration isn’t possible with one.com – I’ve asked)

    What could be the problem?

    Best regards
    Sara

Hello @saraolesen and thanks for reaching out to us!

We have been seeing this issue with customers who are hosted on one.com. We have reached out to them to try and find a resolution for this issue. One.com has recently changed some security features to not allow .user.ini changes to work properly. Without the user.ini, Wordfence will not be able to be optimized.

You could reach out to them ask:
“I need to set an auto_prepend_file PHP value in my .user.ini to point at my wordfence-waf.php. This setting was working and then stopped. Wordfence has suggested it might be something restricted from the hosts end. Any thoughts on what might be blocking my auto_prepend_file from working?”

If enough people reach out to them about this, they will know it’s a big issue. Let me know how they reply!

    Thanks again!

    Hi again

I’ve talked to them now and sent the question you suggested. They said:

“Our developers are working on that issue as for the moment. However, sadly it is not really possible to change the value of “auto_prepend_file”.”

    and

“We have received this kind of error a while ago, and our developers are working on it.

Sadly, no we are not working with the plugin developer about that matter. Basically, our developers are trying to check if we can provide some solution or alternative to fix the “auto_prepend_file” issue.”

    I hope it helps.

    Best regards

Hopefully, they change this soon, so that one.com customers can be protected.

Let me know though if they do change anything!

    Thanks again for reporting!

    Hello

    One.com has answered:

“Just an update, I have now received an update from our 2nd level technicians and they have told me the following:

In order to optimize the firewall, WordFence would have to alter the auto_prepend_file php directive, unfortunately that is not currently possible on our servers as we do not allow alterations PHP directives via .php.ini.

This is the reason why you cannot reach 100% for the firewall status.

We are already checking this with our Systems team asking if this is something we can allow, although we cannot provide any promises that it will be changed.”

I don’t know whether you can use it or not but I thought I would send it ??
