    Hello:

I’ve been trying to connect a new site to my Twitter feed via Jetpack. I keep getting this as I try:

cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

I’ve tried everything but nothing works. I’ve tried uninstalling and installing at least three times. The first time I got it to go to my WordPress My Sites panel, but I refused to connect to my twitter account.

Any help would be a help.

    Thanks.

    Hi there

As the error suggests, the issue is with your site’s SSL certificate, which is self-signed. You can see the full error by entering your site URL here:
    https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html

I’d suggest passing the error to your hosting provider so they can help you fix the SSL error. Once that’s done, you should have no issues connecting Twitter.

I also noticed that it is still possible for one to access your site via HTTP. In fact, your visitors and search engines can use either HTTP or HTTPS to access your site.

This is an issue for search engines, since it often causes confusion and duplicate content, but it is also an issue for your site’s communication with WordPress.com, as our system does not know whether it should connect to your site via one or the other address.

To solve this issue, I would recommend that once the SSL issue is fixed, you ask your host for help redirecting all traffic from HTTP to HTTPS.

If your host is unable to help with that, you can follow the instructions here to do so:
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/

Once that’s done, try to reconnect your site to WordPress.com once again; that should solve your issue.
