Carousel only works when the lower caption area is clicked

    I manage a number of sites for various clients and I have recently noticed a change in JetPack’s behavior in regards to the way it shows the gallery carousel. What it’s doing now is going directly to the photo when the image itself is clicked and only displaying the photo carousel when the lower boxed caption area is clicked.

    The only major change that has recently occurred is moving from one host machine to another with a different configuration. So either there is something wrong with the configuration or a new interaction is happening. I cannot verify if this issue was present prior to the move.

    Steps Taken:
    – I have tried disabling all plugins except JetPack but this did not have an effect.
    – I have changed to a default WordPress theme this did not change the behavior.
    – I disabled CloudFlare with no effect
    – I cleared all caches with no effect
    – I disabled CSS, JavaScript and HTML minification with no effect
    – I did all of this together with no effect
    – I did all of this separately with no effect
    – I restarted the various services and even the host machine with no change.

    I am seeing this issue on multiple websites hosted on different machines.

    I would like some help debugging this issue please.

    This issue should be fixed in Jetpack 9.4.1:

    It looks like the site you referenced is on Jetpack 9.4 – Can you update to 9.4.1 and let us know if that fixes it?

    Interesting, the plugin is not showing an update is available. WordPress says 9.4 is the most recent version. Is it downloadable someplace else?

    Hey @jasonhouge,

    You’re right, sorry about that! Looks like the fix for this one will be coming out in Jetpack 9.5, which will be releasing in very early March.

    Thank you Jen and Dan, I dug around and found the download and can confirm 4.9.1 does indeed fix the issue. Thank you
