    Hi Everyone

I’m having a bit of an issue with the following WP Blog… https://www.opportunitiesworkathome.com/Newsletter/

I am using an amazing theme which I really like, but it appears as though the categories script for the index.php file is missing.

What I want to be able to do is sent people to a category link and they will see the posts in that category only.

Can someone help me out with the script.

    Thanks

    Dave

It’s hard to see what the problem is when you only have 1 post on your site and no way to examine any other categories. I’m assuming you do have more than 1 category, yes?

yes, I have two categories set-up, with one post in each category. Hello World is assigned to test-cat and Introduction is assigned to introduction.

If you need me to set something else up to make it easier, just let me know what you need.

    So what’s “Newsletter”? a Page?

“Newsletter” is the main WP installation directory, it is the same as when people install into “blog” or similar.

Ah – it’s your main posts page – which is meant to display all of your posts in date order.

If you intend to publish posts that don’t fit under the heading of Newsletters, you’ll need to rename that Posts page to something more generic, then set up a new catgeory called Newsletters and file posts under that new category as appropriate.

ok… that’s great, but how do I link to the selected category and show ONLY the posts from that category?

ie at the moment I have two categories defined with only one post each. How do I display only the posts for one specific category.

The categories I have set-up at the moment are test-cat and introduction.

    Thanks for your help

Create a page called “Newsletters” as well. Then use the Page Links To to redirect the new Page to the Newsletter category. WP will handle the listing of the right posts in the right category automatically.

    OK

Thank-you very much. I’ll Try that and see how I go

OK… I think I might be almost there.

I can the point the Page to anything by the looks, but what I need it the url for a specific category. How do I manage that?

    Thanks

I just thought, maybe I haven’t been very clear in defining what I am trying to achieve…

This blog will be used as a newsletter for my subscribers.

My autoresponder will send them an e-mail x days after they have subscribed with a link to the posts I want them to read x days after they subscribe. (ie a particular category of posts)

Then y days later, they will get another e-mail with another link to the posts that I want them to read y days after they subscribe.

And the process will continue for years.

What I need is a way to send them somewhere where they will only see the posts that belong to the category I have sent them to.

    Thanks for your help

This is very straight forward and being over complicated. Can you provide me with the id’s of the posts.

    Thread Starter workathomenews

    (@workathomenews)

    sure….

ids are 1 and 5 for posts in test-cat and introduction respectively.

    Thread Starter workathomenews

    (@workathomenews)

for info calling the individual post still shows both posts
