First of all, I can’t find my “homepage” to edit. I’ve tried to go into settings/reading and change it to a static page, but the only pages I have are my “about” and “mission statement”. So how do I access my “homepage”???

Your home page is whatever you choose it to be in Settings > Reading. If it’s a static page, you can edit it by going to Pages > Edit.

Well I created a page called HOME and chose it to be my homepage in settings>reading, like you said, but it’s empty. when you go to my URL nothing shows up. Thank you for responding though.

So, go to Pages > Edit and put something on that page.

Also it would help for you to post a link. When you say “nothing shows up” do you mean nothing at all or do you mean that there is no content on the page?

Okay, I think I understand…Let me rephrase my question, Can I not have my front page display as my latest posts and edit it? Do I have to select a static page if I want to edit it? Thank you for taking time to help me out. Excuse my extreme noobness.

I’m not sure if you can say that…

    A) you want your main posts page to be a static page called home

    and

    B) you want to put text on that page above the posts

    Can’t hurt to try it.

If that doesn’t work, you can display the text with Conditional Tags.

    Like <?php if ( is_page('home')) { echo 'your text' }; ?>

    (not tested)
