I’d like to share my experience here.
I updated about 25 plugins on the UAT site without noticeable problem.
However when I upgraded these on the production site, I noted that when I update woocommerce from 4.8 to 4.9.2, the homepage became completely distorted and corrupted, showing a lot of HTML source code without any normal images etc. I could not access the wp-admin page also.
While I was thinking of restoring from last backup to address this unforeseeable event, suddenly the homepage returned to normal again, so I didn’t have to do anything.

Can anyone enlighten me what is happening? Would it be caused by cache features, and when a few minutes later when things were synchronized or updated, the screen returned to normal? It is quite a shocking experience although I luckily survived.

    Hi there,

That’s difficult to say for sure without knowing what’s installed on your site (or even the site URL). Speaking in general terms and based on the symptoms described, it sounds like caching was definitely involved here and would explain all the symptoms – Especially if CSS files were cached (or temporarily failing to load).
