WP-LOAD.php is becoming blank 0kb

  • After updating to the new version, I keep getting /wp-blog-header.php:16 error and wp-load.php file becoming blank with 0kb
    It happened to few WordPress websites on different servers, I tried checking for viruses and malware and re installing fresh WordPress and update all the plugins, it seems that some plugins are crashing wp-load.php file, but I’ve been working with those plugins for a long time with no issues until recently, some of those plugins are necessary and critical for the theme.

    Do you have a screen capture of the error?

    Did you check the php error log?

    This is the error log I get every time I log in to Admin, I have to upload wp-load file to restore the website

    Call to undefined function wp()

    Did you do any modification before it happened? Plugin update or version upgrade?

    I didn’t, WordPress did auto updates before that happened, I tried installing older version of WordPress, but the problem is still there.
    I checked for a solution online and found this https://youtu.be/ZZmt4KmtIyo
    It seems it happened to few more people recently, unfortunately the server won’t allow me to change the file permission to 444 to test this solution.

    That’s seems to be the issue, usually I’ve never encountered an auto update problem, nevertheless I always suggest to do the process manually (create backups, manual update, etc)

    As for the permissions, I suggest to get in touch with your hosting tech support
