After update Google says: text on mobile too small to read
-
After running the latest automatic updates of WordPress and the Twenty Twenty theme last week, I have started to receive notifications from my Google Search Console, telling me that my website suddenly has 2 errors in Mobile Usability:
– “Text too small too read”
– “Clickable elements are too close together”Both errors apply to 1 page only so far: https://gaininggoodwill.com/guides/co-creation-growing-your-business-with-customer-approval/ I haven’t touched or changed the contents of this page for months. Never caused an issue before. I am assuming that this is simply the first page the Google crawler found, more pages may cause the same error when the crawler returns to re-index the rest of my content.
When I visited my website after the automatic updates, I already noticed the (default) text of Twenty Twenty being smaller on mobile, but at first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Now that I have also received these error notifications in Google Search Console, I feel confident that your update has indeed changed something that triggers these errors.
Has this been a intended change? If so, why? Apparently you have made your theme slightly less Google-/mobile-friendly. Not what you want, I’m guessing.
I would urge you to change the text size on mobile back to what it was before.
