mp4 from external host

  • Hi all…

    Having som trouble with videos from external site…

    The advice is to not upload videos locally on the wordpress page especially if it’s on a hosted server. So i have my own webserver where i can upload my videos. But it won’t show the video. I have tried with html5 video player, and tried to paste only the url for the video in the page. but noe luck. The video wont play. But if i upload it to the wordpress site it works fine…

  • Your site is called via https, and there you try to embed content via http. Virtually all browsers will nowadays reject to load script, CSS, images or other content via http if the main page was fetched via https.

    Aha… Is there any workaround for this?

    Not sure how to get my local server be able to use https

    You can always load the main page via http ??

    Or, the usual way to do this: upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo and then embed it in your page. The good thing with that is that the video platform will take care of cross-encoding (various video formats depending on browser’s capabilities), downsampling (smaller image when viewing on small screens), and downgrading (serve lower quality over slow connections).
