I copied my production website to a staging environment to test a plug-in. When I went back to my production site, it stated that Jetpack was running in safe mode. I thought if I went back to staging and inactivated the plug-in that the issue would resolve. Bad guess on my part.
Tried to re-connect Jetpack in production but used the wrong email address and it tried to create a new account.
I’ve restored production from a backup (both files and database) and reconnected Jetpack using the correct email/WP account. But I have no past statistics or followers.
Anyway to get those recover that data, especially the followers?
    Thank you.

    Hi @gaviidaesails,

Thanks for reaching out about that! I’ve made some changes at my end to fix the Identity crisis you stumbled upon with.

To validate my changes, please cycle the Jetpack connection by deactivating Jetpack in your wp-admin dashboard at Plugins > Installed Plugins and then reactivating it and connecting to WordPress.com again.

More info on how to do that can be found here: https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/

Let me know how you go!

    Hi Stef!
Thank you for your response. I disconnected and re-connected Jetpack with Gaviidaesails.com. I’m now seeing the past statistics but wordpress and email followers are not there. Are you able to help “find” them?
And to prevent this from happening again, if I’m going to copy Production to Staging should I disconnect Jetpack before the copy starts or disconnect immediately on the Staging site as soon as it is up?
    Thank you!!

    Hello @gaviidaesails,

We’ve located your subscribers and moved those over as well.

In the future the best thing to do to avoid a repeat of this is to use Jetpack’s staging mode.

Please let us know if you need anything else.

    Best,

    Hi Bruce,
I still do not see my email or wordpress followers. I disconnected Jetpack and re-connected but that did not make a difference.

    Hi there, Julie,

Could you please refresh once again the Jetpack connection for me and check the subscribers?

They should be there now ??
