When using PayPal standard checkout, the shipping and tax setup in my PayPal account works correctly, i.e., tax and PayPal Profile Based Shipping are added at checkout. However, when I use PayPal Smart Checkout neither the tax or shipping are added. Is this normal behavior or am I missing something?

Hi, did you by any chance use the following documentation to set up your tax?

    Thank you

Yes, I did. As I said it works with PayPal standard checkout but neither taxes or shipping are added in PayPal Smart Checkout.

I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate your issue further.

With “Smart checkout” paypal bypasses the profile based tax and shipping. So it doesn’t work the same way as the standard paypal checkout (in terms of profile based tax and shipping). That’s how the Smart checkout flow of PayPal works.

If you need to use the profile based tax and shipping, you cannot use the paypal smart checkout option unfortunately.

    Thank you.

Hi, I am working on a similar question. I have not been able to get PayPal Profile Based Shipping to work with this plugin AT ALL. I have had a couple of email exchanges with Ivy in support, and sent her a ton of info and screenshots. She mainly asked if I had added [shipping=.00001′} to my shortcode. I thought that was needed only if I was using your plugin to determine shipping. Since I want to offer different shipping options, I need to use PayPal. But none of the PayPal values have worked.

So from this post I see I needed to uncheck “Smart checkout.” That might be helpful information. I wish it was in the documentation.

But it doesn’t seem to matter. I unchecked it, and I still don’t get shipping options, either in the plugin or at PayPal. But at least now I do get a confirmation payment page, which was getting skipped before (sending customer straight back to my Return page without confirmation).

Please advise. Been working on this for 3 days now.

@druekberg, please start a new support thread. This one is marked as resolved.

    Thank you
