• Hi,

Not sure when this started happening, but the markers on my Home page’s RVM is no longer clickable. Any suggestions?

Tested on Chrome and Safari after clearing history/cache, but when clicked, not opening the portfolio for the country.

    Many thanks! ??

On further investigation, it appears that one of the recent RVM updates removed the URLs that I manually added to the markers, or reverted to default of a blank URL.

    Please see following:

Any ideas why this happened? Will this happen with every update?
    Many thanks

    Dear Nilla,

nice to hear back form you and sorry for the issue.
    I hope you’re fine.
You’re right: checking your page through the console markers url have empty values.

RVM update do not clear the markers nro other values in the database but the version of the plugin itself (in fact subdivisions settings are still there). I’ll run another bunch of test and I’ll let you know in case.
For the sake of your settings I would definitely backup markers’ and subdivisions’ settings using the “Export” feature and keep it.

    Thanks as always!
P.S.: I noticed on the page you’ve sent there is black text on black background making it almost invisible ??

Hope all is well with you too!

Thanks for the response and let me know how you go with the tests.

The map markers display as white and hovering displays labels as white text on slightly back opaque background: https://nillasphotography.com/#portfolio

Not sure why you don’t see the same?

Dear Nilla, I’m fine too thanks for asking!

I see the sam eof you: I was just referring to a text outside the map not the one on the markers ??

That’s was because the background image of your website was not loaded yet. I then checked again and the black text was displaying over a white image so everything is fine, sorry for confusion.

I suggest you to recreate the markers and soon after make a backup with the Export functionality!

I’ll write you in case I find anything on my side.

    Hi

Thanks for clearing that up. ??

I know that I need to re-create the markers, but still don’t understand why my URLs disappeared and wouldn’t want this to happen with another update. But, as you advise, I need to do an export as a backup.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Nilla,

I did some tests but I could not reproduce that.
Can you recall if you may have updated/installed other plugins?

Thanks as always for your precious feedback.
    Sincerely,
    Enrico

    Hi,
I have been updating my plugins and should have tested the map, but as it displayed correctly, I didn’t click into the markers – never assume! ??
So, I can’t tell you whether a plug-in update wiped the markers, but that sounds odd.

    Hi again
As mentioned I need to re-create the markers with URL links. As I have a staging site and a production site, is there a way that I can include URLs to ensure they’re not broken when pushed to my live site? Should I use relative or absolute URLs?

Just thinking ahead if I move my site to a different host, etc. I hardcoded URLs in my live site in another plugin but then a staging site was created, the URLs didn’t behave correctly.

    Many thanks

    Hi again,
I have an old backup of my site. What file do I look for that contains the URL links for the markers? I have 60+ and don’t want to manually link these again.
Also, should I be using Absolute or Relative links? Does your plug-in support relative links?
    Cheers,
    Nilla
