I am using Heatmapthemes by Stuart Wider (https://1acnecure.net). I have managed to set up what is intended to be a static website, however, one glaring problem. I want to have a few articles on the home page, and then a link to the entire article at a later point. Using this code: “>Read more…, I do get the ‘Read more’ link at the bottom of the three articles, however, it doesn’t go anywhere.

It may be that I am supposed to open a new post and write the full article, however, it seemed to me that I should be prompted exactly upon which page this post should be written. Can anyone help me out so that I can finally click on ‘read more’ and actually be taken to the entire article? Thanks in advance!

Thank you MichaelH for providing some semblance of an answer, hopefully, it will not be offensive to state that Stuart Wider, the designer of this theme, has previously responded with that same information. Thus giving a positive indication that programers, theme developers and others knowledgeable in the world of WordPress should be capable of using and understanding this arcane language. Although it appears to be a subtle form of communication, I do understand that you would, perhaps, prefer that I pay someone to do this for me.

While I can certainly understand your position, that would not advance my knowledge of this subject matter and since it is my current intention to make many of these it would, therefore, become an expensive endeavor. Accordingly, I respectfully request that you tell me where I might learn how to resolve this issue. It may well be that it is as simple as reading a few more articles or as complex as taking a series of courses. Again thank you in advance.

Thank you for now providing that additional information..sorry for not realizing you had already been directed to those articles.

Are you are using the template tag, the_content(), in that Template to display your read more? If not the please describe what is used to present that link.

If you don’t know how that link is presented, then with the help of the Template Hierarchy article, determine what Template is displaying those posts and more link (maybe your theme’s index.php) then please paste all the code from the theme template file into a pastebin such as wordpress.pastebin.com, and report the link back here. Maybe someone can spot your problem. Thanks.

Also please provide a link to download the theme you are using and divulge if you have modified that theme.

Bravo MichaelH! You have unerringly led me to knowledge. Even better, it seems that you have taught me the value of the excerpt that is really a precis. Now while I know how to do what I wanted to do which is to create a teaser, it seems that it will be more valuable for me to apply WP logic and write a summary a.k.a. excerpt thus tempting search engines to pick it up as the meta-tag. Increasing page views and thus appealing to a larger audience. Well done! Thank you!`
