I noticed my Jetpack Activity log is full of notifications telling me the site url is being changed to a new value. The url changes from one without www in the beginning to one with it and then to plain ip. These three show up every ten minutes or so. I guess something went wrong when I registered my site but I have no idea how to fix this.

I also see number two in my sites but only one site is visible. I somehow feel these things are connected.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @koominen,

I checked your site and I noticed that the www version of your site URL doesn’t redirect to the non-www URL. This might be what’s “confusing” the Activity Log.

The good thing is Jetpack seems to be working fine, so we’re all good as far as we concerned.

I recommend reporting this to your host and/or domain provider, so to make sure the URL redirection is in place and working as expected. This should fix the Activity Log notifications ??

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Ok, thanks. I added the redict and that removed one of the three url notifications that keep popping up. But I still get the same notifications for both the url and the IP. I didn’t notice this at first but actually there are same notifications for both the site url and the home url. So at first the site url and home url are set to the IP and then to the url. And this keeps on repeating over and over again.

    Hello, there!

You’ll want to check in with your webhost on this one – It sounds like something, whether it be your host’s platform, a designation in your wp-config.php or .htaccess, or a plugin, there appears to be multiple “versions” of your URL being set and called or redirected.

They can help make sure that only the URL you actually use is being set for your site and home/site URL, and that your site is only loading over non-www or www (whatever your preference, though we suggest non-www to conform with modern standards).

Once they can confirm that everything is set correctly, please let us know if you spot any more trouble. Thanks!

I added similar redirect for the IP as well and now my activity log looks clean. The only problem is that the WordPress mobile app shows I have two sites but they are both the same. So some duplicate issue still exists. But that does not seem to cause any real problems. Thanks for your help.

    Hey @koominen!

I added similar redirect for the IP as well and now my activity log looks clean.

Glad to hear this one got solved ??

The only problem is that the WordPress mobile app shows I have two sites but they are both the same. So some duplicate issue still exists.

Can you try to completely delete your site from the app, and then re-add it again? This should “reset” the data and clear the duplicate sites also over there.

Let me know how it goes, so we can mark your thread as solved ??

I may have found the problem. As I signed out and back in again on the mobile app, I think I accidentally added my site again. I did not realize there was two different paths to sign in untill it was too late. So this must be the reason my site shows twice. Now I can’t see any stats or activity log on my mobile app. I also get ‘duplicate site detected’ error when I log in. Is there a way for me to fix this myself?

I noticed that if I go to WordPress.com from my Jetpack dashboard using browser I can see two sites. One is https://jasittenmatkaan.fi and the other is https://jasittenmatkaan.fi. I can hide the http one but that does no good. I don’t know how I ended up with this kind of setup but this is most likely the root cause. I cannot find a way to remove the http version of the site from my sites in WordPress.com. Can you help me with this?

    Happiness Rocketeer ??

@koominen Thanks for the additional information! I removed https://jasittenmatkaan.fi from your account.

You should be all set! We’ll mark this resolved for now.
