    Hello

Although I have an IT background, I was new to WordPress a year ago when I took over maintenance of my club’s website. I’ve learned quite a bit and resolved many open issues, but have not been able to fix this one problem.

We use a Gmail address for our web admin and site. We are hosted on GoDaddy. Right now we have less than a hundred subscribers for email notices on updates/posts.

We a have WP SMTP Mail setup for SMTP, but I just recently found out that WP SMTP Mail does not handle outgoing emails for new posts in WordPress blogs. I chased that for awhile and now I found out that it was a waste of time.

We have Jetpack installed and all settings are in there and work…

Sometimes, the emails go out and sometimes they don’t. I put up a post and all of them went out. I put up another one about a week or so later and those went out…. Put up another post a week or so later, and ZIP! No emails went out.

I just turned on error logs in the WordPress root directory, deleted the last post, entered it again posted it. No errors in the log and no emails went out.

Since Jetpack handles the email notifications. Is there logging that I can add to help me figure out what is happening?

    So, I’m stumped.

    Anyone have any suggestions? Please?
    Hahaha

    The URL is https://msrgc.com

There is a public area on the home page and links to activities, etc. on the menu.

Sorry, but when I went to the link you supplied, I didn’t see a contact form.

    Thank you

I deleted the last post that I put out there, and then created a new one with the same contents, with the log open. I can see that I deleted the post and then created a new one. It does not show if email notifications were triggered as a result of the new post.

Should the email notifications trigger activity be seen in the log?

    Thank you

Hi @msrgcweb, thanks for the further details and digging at your end.

I ran some tests to make sure that the email notifications from our end are being sent to your email followers, and it looks like there are no problems from our system at all, which is a good place to start.

That leads me to think that the problem you’re having is most likely something off at your servers’ end. I recommend reporting this again to your host/domain provider so they can investigate further for you.

In case you still reckon our system might be involved in this, you can email us with some specific email address to check at our end. For this, you can use this contact form and mention this thread.

    Hope that helps! ??

Soooooooo, I seem to have found the cause of the problem.

I hired my host’s WordPress expert. He published several test posts and email notifications went out. He admitted that he could not find a problem.

I then thought about his simple test posts. I have been using Elementor to enter, edit, and publish posts as well as pages. I realized that he probably didn’t use Elementor to enter the text and publish.

So, I captured the HTML from my last post that I entered with Elementor (which did not yield email notifications), re-entered it, and published it with Elementor. No email notifications went out.

I then took the captured HTML, repeated the post and published it using the WP editor. Email notifications went out.

I did another simple test post and email notifications went out.

So, my conclusion is that there is some kind of conflict using Elementor to publish posts and Jetpack.

If anyone has any info on this matter, please let me know. More info would be appreciated. I’d like to say that this is 100% solved, but further confirmation would be helpful. I’ve been using Elementor all along, but the problem has been sporadic. Updates to Elementor or Jetpack could have been a factor?

I’ve only been chasing the problem for a year now.
    Hahaha. You’ve got laugh…

Based on this comment, you could try activating the Classic Editor plugin to see if that makes a difference.
