• I’m using Advanced Ads and have just added a new ad into an existing Ad Group with the same settings as the other ads in the Group, except for the link and the image of the banner but this one doesn’t show up in the rotation.
I have it set so that the ads change in the footer when the webpages on my site are refreshed but when it’s the turn of the new ad nothing appears in the footer. I have tested the two links in the banner for the ad and individually they both work.
I have given the new ad the same weight as the one that was there previously which I want to show up more often.
Would appreciate any help anyone can give on this.

    Hi kristute,

    Thanks for reporting this problem.

I guess that you assigned your ad group to a placement. If so, can you please navigate to the Placement page and assign the problematic ad instead of the ad group to that placement? Does the ad appear in the frontend afterward?

If not, can you please check the group settings? Did you choose the random or the ordered rotation mode?

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hi kristute,

In the meantime, have you found time to look at this problem again?

    Best regards,

    Hi Joachim,
Thanks for getting back to me. As you suggested I changed the Placement settings so only the problematic ad would show and after saving I checked my website & could see that no advert banner was showing up in the footer.
I have chosen the Random Ad rotation mode.
    Regards,
    Kristina

    Hi kristute,

    Thanks for sharing your investigation.

Do you notice any warnings in your browser console, e.g., mixed-content warnings?

What kind of ad code is this, an image ad hosted on your website or, e.g., an AdSense ad unit?

Can you please enable the debug mode of this ad unit and check the result in the frontend. You will find a text output there that indicates if the ad would technically show up there or if any condition suppresses it from showing up.

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hi again Joachim.
I had a look at the browser console on one of the pages where I’m expecting the ad to appear & I see this error message (although I’m not sure it’s related)…

DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for https://kristinagasperas.com/wp-content/themes/Divi/js/custom.unified.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

The ad code was provided to me by the company whose ad I would like to show on my website. The image is hosted in their website. I have gone directly to the image link they provided to check if it’s that but it works fine.

I enabled Debug Mode for the ad & get the following output in the front-end…

    Ad debug output

The ad is displayed on the page

current post: INTRODUCING KRISTINA, ID: 8890

    Ad: Feelunique Banner (16868)
    Ad Group: Footer Banners (171)
    Placement: Footer (footer)

    Display Conditions
    Product categories
    Ad wp_the_query
    30,28 post_id: 8890
    is_singular: 1

This suggests to me that it should be showing up, right?

    Kristina

    Hi Kristina,

    Thanks for sharing your investigations.

When I open the link that you added to your first post in this thread, I can see a footer ad. Is this the ad unit that you refer to?

If not, can you please send a link to a page where I can see the embedded ad that doesn’t show up?

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Hi Kristina,

Does your issue still persist? If so, can you please provide a link to see the embedded ad that doesn’t show up?

    Best regards,

Hi Joachim, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
The problem has been solved be me downloading the banner ad .gif file from the supplier’s link, then loading it into the Media library of my WordPress back-end, then changing the image link in the ad to point to the .gif loaded onto my site.
Looks like Advanced Ads may not like .gif’s that are hosted on another site.

    Hi kristute,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Embedding GIF files from another source is no general problem using the Plain text and code or the Rich content ad type. I am doing this often.

But uploading GIF files into the WordPress library and not using an FTP upload usually causes problems because WordPress upload interferes with GIF files’ functionality.

However, I am happy to hear that you could resolve your issue. If you have any questions in the future, please, don’t hesitate to open a new thread here.

    Best regards,
    Joachim
