Hi, I use the plugin and think it is a great one!!

When I replace an image I always get the following error message:
“Replacement file is not the same filetype. This might cause unexpected issues.”

But the original (lost!) file is according to its saved info (though the physical file got lost due to a crash) has the same extension “.jpg” as the new image I want to use instead.

If I just proceed the file gets replaced so the result seems to be fine. But have you any idea why the error message occurs? I assume that it should not come up even if the results are fine…

    Any idea

    Hi, @habd,

If you are sure both of the files are the same filetype, then you can safely make the replace. Sometimes, the files might have a different MIME type, and sometimes, depending on the operating system, there are false positives.

Okay, thanks for the info. Any hope to get this checked by the plugin? Just as an “error” is alarming. Just as if you start to ignore it (as in my case I am currently replacing missing image with a backup) you will one day miss the case when an error message is relevant…

    Hi, HabD,

We actually checked this months ago and determined that there can be an issue when Javascript reports another file MIME type than the original file. This can happen with MIME types that are not strictly defined (like XML has text/xml, application/xhtml+xml and a bunch more).

However, you should know that the message is just a warning, not an error. The warning is just a hint and doesn’t stop the functionality of the plugin in any way. So, as with any warning, you should make sure that everything works correctly after the procedure is done. In your case, just make sure that your images are displayed after replacement and you should be good to go ??

    Best,
