• Hi,
I’m in the process of creating a new site that links to a ‘flat’, HTML-based site I developed over the years that’s basically menu-driven and contains links to content on the site as well as externally.

Blogs don’t lend themselves well to being menu-driven especially when theme designers add all kinds of stuff that gets in the way, especially built-in page links. I wanted to use separate pages for each newsletter but if the theme automatically loads them across the top of the page and can’t even wrap them, it defeats my purpose. I’m a php ignoramus tho I can do simple hacks.

Take a look https://williambowles.info, this is the existing site. I’ve played around with about dozen themes not a single one of which does the job without extensive rebuilds.

Try looking for a theme that doesn’t incorporate any horizontal navigation – such as the default and classic themes.

    Hi Esmi,
Yes, I found one called Greenie, tho it doesn’t blow me away (and all the comments in the code are in German) and every theme interacts differently with things like the plugins. Worse still, when I view the site (I’m on a G5 iMac, OS 10.5.8) using Firefox it displays one way and on Safari, another! In addition, even tho I clear the cache every time, old layouts still show. Very frustrating.
