Has anyone been able to inject PHP into the config.xml file successfully so that it pulls content instead of images? It looks like CNN did something very similar with their political ticker: https://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/POLITICS/political.ticker.embed.swf

We have feelers out there to do this for us, but it seems that the candidates on the crowd sourcing market aren’t really qualified enough to do it.

So on our own we must go I guess. Maybe the official 1.0 release of cu3er will make the WordPress plugin useless.

Yep, that’s the plugin that I was referring to. However, it isn’t much more useful than the original app. It only renders images into it’s slideshow, and they have to be tied to the content of the post. It won’t search for custom keys (as far as I can tell) and it MUST have an image tied to it. I want just the headline.

That implies a separate conversion of text to image… There are some PHP scripts out there (i.e. outside WP) that do that; title-to-image conversion is not so straightforward as it sounds though. Can’t help you with that, sorry.

I think I was being hard headed. I’m going to try and see if I can tweak that plugin. The creator of the original app said that I should be able to hard code the specific categories and/or custom keys within the config.php file delivered with that plugin.

Upon reviewing it, it looks somewhat straightforward. If I can get it to pull my own custom keys and whatnot, then I’ll investigate the title-to-image conversion method as well.

Or maybe instead of using some php script, I just go with some sIFR replacement. Hmmm… that means I need to learn how to use onRelease. ??

I’ll report back here what I find as far as the customization of the cu3er plugin goes for other people searching this topic.
